Hawthorn Lanes

From 1989-2008 Bill was also the General Manger and Proprietor of Hawthorn Lanes and was instrumental in bringing professional bowling back to the Chicagoland area as Hawthorn Lanes was the host to 21 PBA Tournaments including 7 National PBA Tournaments and 14 Regional PBA Tournaments.  The reputation of the lane conditioning programs that Bill designed made Hawthorn Lanes THE place to bowl if you were a competitive youth or adult bowler.  With Bill's guidance the Hawthorn Majors, Hawthorn Classic, and Hawthorn Sport leagues grew to be some of the largest competitive leagues in the country and Hawthorn Lanes was one of the first bowling centers in the USA to offer both youth and adult Sport Leagues.  Youth bowlers coming out of the Hawthorn Lanes youth program have won numerous local, state, and national Stars of Tomorrow Awards, and many have gone on to have success on the PBA Regional and National Tours.  In 2008, Bill sold Hawthorn Lanes to Brunswick Corporation and it became known as Brunswick Zone Hawthorn. In 2014, Bowlmor AMF bought Brunswick Corporation's 85 bowling centers and now is known as Bowlero Vernon Hills.
